Writing and poetry ⋆˙⟡♡

Here’s my poetry page! In my spare time, I also choose to make short poems as a way to reflect on the emotions and feelings I face in my daily life! The poems I enjoy creating the most are ones about my greatest desires in life.

Below are three poems that I personally feel the most comfortable sharing!

Our Galaxy

Even though we aren’t able to meet

We are still connected to each other
In a place only to ourselves

Whenever I’m with you
It is like we are in our own galaxy
We even counted down until our spaceship took off

Our galaxy is filled to the brim
With dazzling stars, racing planets, complex constellations
and other marvelous cosmos
Filling up the space in our own galaxy

We orbit around each other
Making sure to not to intrude the other’s bubble
In a waltz just made for us in our own galaxy

Dancing to the same beat, measure and sound
Teaching each other our own dance moves
As well as learning dance moves from the other person

I love that we have invented this galaxy
Our little milky way and our own safe space
I love that I get to float here with you
Gravity doesn’t exist in our own galaxy

That’s why I am happy to exist beside you
To love you, to cherish you and to celebrate with you
I hope you also enjoy our galaxy as much as I do

Hold still

A picture is worth more than a thousand words

They capture the emotions and the events nicely

They capture our hearts perfectly

Even if the settings aren’t the way I intended them to be

Even if no one else understands it

I still keep the memory of us in it

Every picture has a story to tell

Every photograph has a moment to share

Every still is of a moment so much bigger than itself

So I say hold still

Wait, and cheese!!

The colour of my skin

The colour of my skin isn’t an indicator to treat me as less than

It shouldn’t be used as a valid excuse to single me out

Would never be used to mock me

The colour of my skin is an aspect that matters

It matters to be treated like any other human

It matters to appreciate skin colour rather than appropriate it

But I see the colour of skin be used in negative ways

While my mother is treated nicely with her fair skin

My father is seen as scary with his darker features

I hate that our lives are pre-determined

Not by who you are on the inside

But by the difference in skin colour

I want all skin colours to be appreciated

For my skin to be acceptable and cherished

And for others to feel loved in their own skin tones

So I hope that some day skin tone is less of an indicator of how to treat others

To use skin tone as way of building community

And that skin tone would never be used to mock us ever again
